Core Security Guarantees

  • Zero Seed Phrase or Private Key Requests: ClearPay never asks for recovery phrases, private keys, or keystore files.
  • Direct TRC20 Transfer Only: Every payment builds a single-instruction TriggerSmartContract call using selector 0xa9059cbb (transfer(address,uint256)).
  • Hard-Blocked Approvals: Token approval selectors (approve, increaseApproval, increaseAllowance) are cryptographically blocked before signing.
  • Separate Connection & Signing: Connecting your wallet only shares your public TRON address. Signing only occurs after you inspect the Payment Review screen.
  • Chain ID Verification: ClearPay verifies TRON Mainnet (tron:0x2b6653dc) via Genesis Block 0x2b6653dc and session namespaces before allowing payment execution.

Pre-Sign Checklist for Users

Before approving a transaction in your wallet prompt, always verify these four fields on your wallet screen:

  • 1. Contract Address: Verify the TRC20 token contract is official TRON Mainnet Tether USD: TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t
  • 2. Function Type: Confirm your wallet shows Transfer / TriggerSmartContract (transfer) and never “Approve” or “Update Permission”.
  • 3. Recipient Address: Ensure the recipient Base58 address starts with T and matches the merchant address.
  • 4. TRX for Network Fees: TRON TRC20 transfers require Energy and Bandwidth (or ~15–35 TRX burned if your account has no staked Energy).

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Why does my wallet say “Insufficient Energy or TRX”?

USDT on TRON is a TRC20 smart contract token. While the payment amount is denominated in USDT, the TRON network charges transaction execution fees in TRX (or staked Energy/Bandwidth). Keep at least 30–40 TRX in your wallet to avoid OUT_OF_ENERGY failures.

Why is my desktop browser extension not detected for imToken or Trust Wallet?

imToken is a mobile-only wallet and does not offer a desktop browser extension. Trust Wallet's desktop extension primarily targets EVM/Solana and may not inject a TRON window.tronLink signer on desktop. For both wallets on desktop, switch the modal tab to WalletConnect QR and scan with your mobile wallet app, or use Mobile Deep Link on your phone.

What happens if my wallet is on Shasta or Nile Testnet?

ClearPay checks the connected chain's genesis block (0x2b6653dc) and node host. If a testnet is detected, payment signing is automatically blocked until you switch your wallet to TRON Mainnet.
